Get Your Glutathione Guys ….and girls

I could listen to Dr. Hyman talk all day talk about the importance of nutrition… you may not realize yet what a nutrition geek I am. Listen, when you have as many food allergies as I do, connected to as many cross proteins in my environment you start to read about nutrition, a lot. My husband is amazing with all of the changes in diet and living. He has been a ROCKSTAR throughout the process and in fact makes a lot of foods like this weekend he is making the sauerkraut that we’ll be eating in about six weeks. Archaeologists have discovered that early hunter gatherers used the fermenting process, mainly as a means of preservation. The Chinese fermented foods and hailed the fermenting juice as a treatment for many ailments I happen to LOVE sauerkraut, and always have But there is nothing like homemade, and I recommend you try it out.

Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition. It’s the root of so much bad and so much good in our lives. The biggest a-ha moment I’ve had this year when I watched and old video of Dr. Hyman talking about glutathione. And that’s what made me do a happy dance when I learned about the Action Whey Shakes made with the glutathione rich undenatured whey. Now not only is it a great product for myself, but it’s also good for men!!

Now you don’t have to just get your glutathione from pastured cows like my husband. I am the creator of the Paleo Vegeo lifestyle so I love that you can also get this from holistically good fruits and vegetables.  Get your greens because spinach, broccoli, asparagus are all great sources. As well your potatoes, avocado, squash, okra, cauliflower, walnuts also have high glutathione per serving. My mother-in-law swears by milk thistle and it is an excellent source of the antioxidant compound silymarin, which may help to prevent glutathione depletion in the liver.  I love adding super organic green powder into my paleo vegan protein shake to get that extra oomph as well.

Glutathione, the “mother of all antioxidants” in the Organic Shake at Emerals Essentials and what it an do for Crossfit Training Men

Glutathione is the “mother of all antioxidants” and until as of recently the only for of whey out there in the body building / crossfit community was hydrolyzed, isolated and packed with nasty excitotoxins. YUCKERS!! Why do you think so many fit healthy guys are coming into the local clinics with very low testosterone in their systems. Hormone problems have become a huge problem with men, not just women. Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health studied the effects of glutathione depletion on testosterone-producing cells in both young and old rats. Changes in the oxidant/antioxidant environment of aging Leydig cells {testosterone-producing}have been shown to be correlated with the reduced ability of these cells to produce testosterone

The researchers found that indeed, depleting glutathione levels in these cells reduced the rats’ testosterone production by about 40%. When antioxidants were administered, testosterone production was maintained at normal levels, and when a compound was administered specifically to boost intracellular glutathione, testosterone levels actually increased in the test animals. What they found was that indeed, depleting glutathione levels in these cells reduced the rats’ testosterone production by about 40%. If antioxidants were administered, testosterone production was maintained at normal levels. When a compound was administered specifically to boost intracellular glutathione, testosterone levels actually increased in the test animals.

High temperature processed whey creates a high level of toxins that you aren’t getting in the cold processed whey, and you don’t get that glutathione boost with this high temp whey either. Like those in the paleo world have found, the more processed, the worse it is for your body. And if you are someone that really loves to workout, you aren’t realizing how important the whey you are taking is to your body. Physical exercise influences the GSH metabolism in skeletal muscles and your live, and exhaustive exercise decreases both liver and muscle glutathione consistently.

It also helps us deal with free radicals, glutathione recycles life back into our cell…  I love that idea that Dr. Hyman talks about. And with the levels of free radical in your daily life, you do not have enough of it, and that is why this is such an important amino acid. It’s going to detoxify as well. It’s not JUST for men. It works with your cells, and therefore ladies it’s not going to turn you into a dude. It’s not a steroid. In fact, one study involved women with ovarian cancer who were being treated with chemotherapy. Some of the women were also treated with intravenous glutathione. Those given the glutathione not only had fewer side effects from the chemotherapy but also had better overall survival rates. It works with your body, and your cells to make them work better!

Watch this video and learn more about the changes that happen when you add a glutathione rich whey and other organic supplementation into your diet, and head over to try out the Action Whey Protein today to boost your glutithione the natural undenatured way.

Challenging yourself to be happy with the 30 Day Transformation Challenge

So what is holding you back from the things you want to accomplish in life?

“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.” Anthony Robbins

I’m sitting here tonight listening to the rain pour outside, the way it does on occasion here in the Seattle area. To me it’s almost always this calming, cleansing feeling to hear, to see the rain. It opens my mind to the dreams as I drive down the road with nothing but the sound of the rain on the rooftop. It’s mindful of life. Rain nourishes the world around us. Without it there would be no rebirth of the world each spring. Without it we would not be.

So what are you getting out of the place you’ve stopped at?

The challenge is to be more, to find happiness, to change your life. You have been at a standstill or you wouldn’t even be here. I know that for a fact. First, you have to figure out who you are, where you are going. If you don’t know that, you have no idea what you are doing at all. You can’t plan for living after you are gone. Life is now. Living is what you are opening yourself up to either as a Transform30 Challenger with me, or perhaps as a Juice Plus Franchise Owner within the Nourished Warriors team that is looking to try the challenge for yourself. I didn’t come into this organization without a plan of where I wanted to end up. I’m not standing here as a VF Distributor without having done the work. I didn’t buy my way in, and I didn’t sprint for it without a destination in mind. It’s the same way with fitness, nutrition, health… I know where I am going and who I am. That’s what you need to determine for yourself. I want you to figure out your story. I want you to become the person you are meant to be. I will help you when you are ready. Why the Jeunesse Global Journey Works for weight loss and health

Watching the Jeunesse Global Journey Through My Business

Always nice to see that my business was growing while I was playing on the beaches in California with my family. I also loved that even though I indulged a little bit, I feel like I am not off track with my nutrition because I have these amazing shakes to drink.

This is a journey my friends. There is no instant gratification in health, and change takes time, and consistency as we change our lifestyles. That doesn’t mean you won’t see some changes in measurements and weight initially, or feel some changes in inflammation and energy…

What it means is that you have to stick with healthy changes rather than jumping from one “fad” to the next. Only being consistent in using healthy supplements and being consistent in the other healthy chooses in life (exercise, nutrition) will you see real changes and long term changes. And that is what makes this all so important to me, the long term changes I am going to see for my health

These products will take you on an Global Journey of health

There was a study done on the long term use of undenatured whey protein isolates. Long and persistent uncontrolled diabetes tends to degenerate the immune system and leads to an increased incidence of infection. And most of us in our society are on the borderline of type two, or as Dr. Hyman says we have “diabesity”. One in two Americans is suffering from diabesity, and most of them don’t even know it. Why? Because most doctors are not trained to treat the single biggest chronic disease in America. That’s right… our doctors and chiropractors. A chiropractor goes through Nutrition/dietetics for 90 hours during the total of almost 4800 hours of training… That’s not even 2% of their training time. Nurses go through one 3 credit out class on nutrition. Most MD’s don’t even go through the recommended 25 hours of nutritional training. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/16/health/16chen.html?_r=0

On the other hand we are so lucky that our doctors are so amazing!! They get nutrition in a big way! That’s why I was so happy that they got it with their fitness products why undenatured whey is so important.

In fact, whey proteins (WPs) enhance immunity during early life (healthy for your kids!) and have a protective role in some immune disorders. In this study, the effects of the whey protein was done on the chemotaxis of B and T cells(T cells are what is so super important when dealing with cancer treatments and immune levels) to CXCL12 and CCL21 in diabetic mice were investigated.  They concluded that this whey protein would be a promising drug candidate for immunomodulation. What is that? Immunotherapy is a medical term defined as the “treatment of disease by inducing, enhancing, or suppressing an immune response”. Do you want to use something health to work with your immune system?

Now with weight loss… A recent study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that the long-term consumption of this amazingly healthy whey protein was associated with lower body weight and lower body fat mass in overweight and obese adults.

The study subjects consumed 56 grams of either whey or soy protein daily, or an equal amount of calories as carbohydrates.  The participants otherwise consumed their normal diets.  After just 23 weeks of supplementation, the fat mass of those consuming whey protein was 2.3 kilograms (just over 5 pounds) less than those consuming an equal amount of calories as carbohydrates.

Though caloric restriction can facilitate weight loss in the short-term, you have to remember that all of these longer-term studies have shown calorie-restricted diets to be ineffective for sustained weight loss. You can’t expect to keep the weight off when you go back to the same old same old way of eating. It’s likely that calorie-restricted diets trigger numerous appetite-promoting chemical signals to compensate for perceived starvation. I listened to an amazing TED talk about the neurons that come from our “immune system” which is our digestive system. These sustained caloric restriction diets are most likely going to cause intense food cravings, and foster the accumulation of body fat when and if caloric consumption is increased.  This has been show by numerous studies, that those that repeatedly cycle on and off of calorie-restricted diets often end up heavier than when their dieting endeavors began. Have you seen this before?

Sustained weight loss, therefore, will likely require the use of foods and supplements that I’ve talked about, and eating a nutrient-rich diet to elicit the chemical signaling characteristic of a fed state. You need to over power the brain wanting to overeat, but still give your body it’s required nutrition.  When these requirements are met, the metabolism is more likely to give you that fat loss even without all of the calorie counting that most of us do these days. That is what these products are going to do for you. It’s looking at the long term picture my friends, and not just the quick fix that we often are searching for in our society. As research on undenatured whey protein continues, it appears that its benefits are far greater than many people currently imagine. What a journey… are you coming along?

How to get through a healthy pregnancy with proper supplementation I Glutahtione and Chorella and Flax

How to get through a healthy pregnancy with chlorella supplementation

How to get through a healthy pregnancy with chlorella supplementation using Ocean Avenue WheySmart Shake
B12 is one of the vitamins a lot of vegans have to either supplement with or turn to vegetarianism by adding back in whey protein. You may not know that Chlorella contains the highest chlorophyll level per ounce of any plant, as well as protein (nearly 58 percent), carbohydrates, all of the B vitamins, vitamins C and E, amino acids (including all nine essential ones), enzymes and rare trace minerals. The research I’ve seen says that chlorella is something any pregnant or nursing mom should look into. Pregnant women have an increased risk of developing several health problems, including anemia, protein in the urine and the accumulation of fluid in the body, also known as edema. The nutrients present in these may be able to help prevent some of these problems. They have been shown to cleanse toxins from the milk, and then those toxins/heavy metals are excreted via bowels, not your baby’s breast milk. (Also for those nursing dandelion in a nice organic, herbal tea promotes lactation and can assist in breastfeeding as well). There is an amazing daily shake supplement that contains all of this and more, and it’s fully organic, called Organic Greens Complex. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, kosher, nongmo certified and preservative free!!

Natural ingredients and how they support the pregnant and nursing mom

Having a green smoothie is a new daily shake that contains very few ingredients, but those ingredients are very good for you. Both spirulina, which is very nutrient dense, and  the cracked cell chlorella which has the benefit of cleansing breast milk so that after you’ve delivered your baby, you can give him or her breastmilk that is very clean and very nutritious, are options that every mom-to-be should consider. In fact a lot of raw vegan experts recommend them, like Dr Cousens and Dr Clement.

Next we have the glutathione that you get from the undenatured whey, the highlight of my green smoothie that I get from Organic Action Whey. Glutathione is always being required from our bodies and is consumed rapidly when we experience any sort of demand on the body, such as during pregnancy. Glutathione is the mother of all antioxidants, and will protect both mother and pre-born baby from the damages of oxidative stress and free radicals. Many of the birth defects and pregnancy complications have been linked to free radical damage, oxidative stress, and low glutathione levels in the mother and developing baby. Undenatured whey protein seems to be the best method for obtaining the building blocks of glutathione. Supplementing with glutathione doesn’t neccessarily help your body. But your cells make glutathione with the rich amino acids delivered from the Action Whey protein which has been tested for heavy metals which most whey shakes have not.

Another factor that pregnant moms need to be aware of is fiber. Even before getting pregnant they recommend that you pump up that fiber. It will make you less likely to develop gestational diabetes, researchers report in the October edition of Diabetes Care. Flaxseed meal supplies not only the rich omega-3’s for your baby’s developing brain, but also the lignans, and soluble and insoluble fiber. This mediates the glycemic impact of your foods. I like to add flaxseed and fresh fruit to my smoothie to get all of that.

During pregnancy, vitamin C is recommended for the mother’s bone and also to help in prevention of child deformities, and the acerola fruit is an amazing source of that necessary vitamin. The most common source of natural vitamin C for a pregnant mom would be citrus, rose hips or acerola berries. And you also know the importance of getting a proper supply of folate, a nutrient that aids in the development of the fetus and helps to prevent birth defects. The acerola berry (another great ingredient in the Organic Greens Complex) is a great natural source of folate and assists in healthy cell growth and works to prevent heart disease. Now, I am not a doctor, and so you should always run any nutritional supplementation past your own OBGYN before getting started with a new supplement during your pregnancy.

Supporting and healing adrenal fatigue naturally

Supporting and healing adrenal fatigue naturally with essential oils, vitamins, and nutrients

Adrenal Fatigue Support with Barbara Christensen Coach Ocean Avenue Founding Ambassador doTERRA

I had a severe adrenal fatigue issue a few years ago, and then I started drinking coffee. MAJOR fail! So I dropped the coffee, and cleaned up my act, and thought that maybe it was just a passing phase.

So then this last month I really up’d my workouts, after a long Beast 90 days, and the extra HIIT and Plyo workouts made me feel AMAZING at the end of them, but then I would totally crash!

So …. you may think, ‘that sounds like me’.

What is Adrenal Fatigue?

Do you feel tired for no reason, or get that post-workout High then crash? Do you find that where you used to get up easily, you are having trouble getting out of bed in the morning? Is the first thing you reach for a cup of coffee, soda, energy drink, sweets or salty treats to get you moving? (or to keep you moving mid-afternoon) Do you feel more stressed than usual and totally run down?

If you answered “yes” to these questions then you are probably experiencing this really unpleasant thing called adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue occurs when your adrenal gland function becomes less than optimal. And your diet, the way you workout, the stress at work or surrounding relationships can have an effect on all of that.

To support your adrenals you can add these essential oils to 1/4 teaspoon of the FCO (coconut oil) and apply as a warm compress over the adrenal glands (located on top of the kidneys).
. 3 drops clove
. 3 drops nutmeg
. 7 drops rosemary

That’s a great start.

Also besides that, I have to say “Welcome to my Life Trim60! Invigorate and WheySmart has been the best support to my adrenal glands, and in reducing stress. Didn’t I hear that somewhere before? {Thanks, Franco for the info!} I have learned that you have to support your adrenals specifically with nutrition, especially when you up the game.

While the adrenal glands need numerous nutrients to function normally, perhaps the most important of them all is vitamin C, and a lot of people with really stressed out adrenals can’t tolerate the vitamin C supplements, but they can tolerate acerola berries in a highly concentrated formula like in WheySmart. Sufferers of adrenal fatigue are hit particularly hard by vitamin C deficiency. The production of cortisol and other adrenal hormones, characteristically low in this disorder, is dependent on an ongoing supply of vitamin C. If this supply dwindles, so too does the secretion of adrenal hormones. This feeble response from the adrenal glands places the body under further stress, further increasing demand for the vitamin C. The importance of intervention with the appropriate amounts of this nutrient should not be overlooked. And the ingredients in Invigorate also work to reduce that cortisol and daily stress level. I love it.

One of the most relevant features of this immune imbalance is the susceptibility to yeast infections. So if you have stressed out adrenals then you need to stay away from added sugar. The products I recommend have no added sugar. The way I eat – which is Paleo Vegeo – has no added sugar.

Adrenal Support Soup

Adrenal Fatigue Recovery Soup by Taz using Support from Paleo Vegeo

The following vegetable soup recipe has proved helpful in adrenal support. It is rich in minerals and alkalinizing to help balance the acidity that usually occurs in people experiencing adrenal fatigue and stress. I talk a lot about alkalinizing with using the Paleo Vegeo basic lifestyle changes in your diet starting today. This soup has a calming, settling effect. They call it “Taz,” comes from Dolores S. Downey’s “Balancing Body Chemistry with Nutrition” seminars.

Ingredients:
16 oz. green beans
1 cup chopped celery
1 zucchini, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup tomato juice
1 cup spring water
2 tbsp. raw local honey
1 tsp. paprika
1 cup vegetable broth (or chicken broth}

Directions:
Combine ingredients and simmer for one hour until vegetables are tender. Pepper to taste.

How easy!! I hope that you’ll move forward with more health!

Research shows that whey with the rich supplementation can burn belly fat

Research shows that whey with the rich supplementation can burn belly fat

Ocean Avenue WheyBeyond with the Vitamin D3 can burn belly fat from The Skinny Whey Barbara Christensen

University of Minnesota … People with adequate vitamin D levels at the start of the study tended to lose more weight than those with low levels, even though everyone reduced their calorie intake equally. In fact, even a minuscule increase in a key D precursor caused the study participants to incinerate an additional half pound of flab.

The most recent article was published this year in the January 2012 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition…the conclusion reached by the scientists was that calcium and/or vitamin D supplementation contributes to a beneficial reduction of belly fat.

In the WheyBeyond and Flax Milk you are getting calcium, omegas and then I am adding in the D3. With my breakfast in about an hour I’ll get in my fiber boost as well. The Fat-Fighting 4—fiber, calcium, vitamin D, and omega-3s— these are the key to good health. www.TheSkinnyWhey.com

Glutathione is an effective antioxidant that fights free radicals in your body

Glutathione is an effective antioxidant that fights free radicals in your body

Glutathione is such an amazing antioxidant, and the more I learn about it, the more excited I get. Ever wonder why some people get sick and others don’t? Higher glutathione levels means you have stronger defenses. Even germs you already have will clear up when your immune system starts kicking. This antioxidant action also detoxifies your liver, helping you be less sensitive to allergens {my favorite part!}, and removes the toxins that can lead to cancer and other diseases.I read recently about how the amino acid cysteine is often used in supplement form to treat respiratory conditions, as well as other conditions. I have a lot of friends that are either suffering from continued respiratory issues, or with Hurricane Sandy they’ve got some serious issues with mucus and breathing that have been brought up by the damage and the lingering mold issues. So cysteine most typically comes in its acetylcysteine form when used as a supplement, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Once taken, your body converts the supplement into cysteine, then to glutathione. It’s the glutathione that is the key here… and you can get that from a great undenatured whey product

mother nature conveniently placed GSH (glutathione) in the lung lining fluid to offset the harm of pollutants, smoke, chemicals

When you are sick you probably use guaifenesin ( Mucinex) alone or a combined with cough syrup. They prescribed this to get through the worst part of your cold, but it is not recommended for chronic, ongoing problems because guaifenesin stimulates lubrication of the lungs. So doing more research I found that they have proven that, without exception, every lung patient has decreased, deficient levels of glutathione (GSH) in their lung lining fluid. WOW! Who knew. Your lungs are exposed to everything in the air and so mother nature conveniently placed GSH in the lung lining fluid to offset the harm of pollutants, smoke, chemicals…you know all of those toxins that you are breathing in on a daily basis. But after long-term respiratory issues and over-exposure to these elements your GSH supply becomes inadequate and that’s when the lungs start losing ground.

When you already have a problem with mucus and breathing, the last thing you need is a cold or bronchitis. It takes you longer to get over it the more times it happens. Each time our founder got bronchitis, it was worse and lasted longer. It left damage, and deepened the cycle of mucus and vulnerability. In fact in Europe they are already using glutathione rich products and glutathione creating medications for Cystic Fibrosis patients. In patients with cystic fibrosis the levels of glutathione in the lung drop. They are using glutathione products to increase the levels of glutathione, and they believe to reduce inflammation and
help maintain normal composition of mucus. This way it is expected to relieve the symptoms of the
patients.

I love this video where Dr. Oz talks about glutathione – and I hope that you will research how it can help you.

Look into my upcoming Post Thanksgiving Sugar-Free Training/Nutrition Plan

Post Thanksgiving Sugar-Free Training/Nutrition Plan

Going into December I’m doing a Post Thanksgiving Sugar-Free nutritional plan, with a very focused hybrid training program. Here’s a look at what my weekly training plan may look like:

Weekly Weight Training Split –

Day 1: Les Mills Pump 55
Day 2: P90X Kenpo
Day 3: Body Beast Build Legs
Day 4: Body Beast Tempo
Day 5: Les Mills Pump 45 & Les Mills Pump Core
Day 6: Les Mills Pump Combat & Les Mills Pump Flow
Day 7: REST

If you can’t do a full six days, make sure you are getting at least 4 days of weights and add in some cardio to the end. This is very similar to what you would do for a vegetarian bikini fitness prep routine for the initial start plan.

Now going sugar-free

That’s the part that is going to be the hardest, because I’m going to be taking out almost all grains for the entire month. I’ll be using my favorite products, to help support my cranky system. I’m not afraid of the sugar-free, it’s that darn quinoa bread I’ll be missing.

Sample Diet:
Meal 1: Oatmeal with Organic Action Whey powder & RawBurst berry powder with ground flaxseed {Plus Super Antioxidant Boost supplement and Emerald Sea supplement}
Meal 2: Action Whey Berry smoothie
Meal 3: Large salad with veggies, ¾ cup sprouted black beans with a salsa dressing and a sweet potato
Meal 4: ¼ cup hummus and 2 cups raw veggies {Super Antioxidant Boost supplement}
Meal 5: Matcha Enzyme Tea {Rishi Matcha tea mixed with Organic Greens Complex}
Meal 6: Spaghetti squash with marina sauce and mushrooms and shrimp or StirFry Vegetables in coconut oil with wild caught salmon {Multi-Vitamin and Mineral Boost}
