You want to eat healthy and make it affordable??

One of my favorite people in the world has the greatest challenge for you to partake in… Real Food for Real Families! More than 1,300 families have signed up for the Nourished Kitchen Real Food for Real Families Challenge. Each week there is a new challenge designed to help you set and stick to a thrifty grocery budget. In this economy and with the amount of money spent on healthcare related to the poor quality of food that our families eat – this is one great challenge that you don’t want to miss out on. This first week had the families determine their budget.  They were to cross-reference with theUSDA’s Cost of Food and settle on the Thrifty or Low-cost Budgets for a family of your size. Next you were to pull out the week’s grocery money in cash and using the envelope system commit to spend only the amount that you budgeted as you meal plan and go shopping. Sound like anyone else I happen to love?

I love the Nourished Kitchen website (http://nourishedkitchen.com/), and I love the great tips I get via Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nourished-Kitchen/193690124077?ref=ts) as well. I want to hear about how you are managing you food budget – and for those friends of mine I’d love to hear if you are taking part in the challenge how well you’ve done. I personally think between Jenny and Dave Ramsey – a lot of the fiscal problems in family life could be organically eliminated.

Well… I’m off to Seattle this week. Look for my “Market” post coming live from the Pike Place Market. Ta!
